From the perspective of outside organizations we are a legal entity, not just a loose collection of people. Incorporating as a non-profit organization increases our ability to acquire relationships with other entities. It also protects the MOO from other people or entities who might try to claim it.
With this change came many good things. We have acquired our own server, our own ADSL connection, and our own moo.ca domain name.
For more information on incorporation, see Industry Canada's documentation.
