Finger Daemon/Finger Gateway (#79)

Address to finger:

E.g. hadfield@jsc.nasa.gov
      @moo.ca

Some Internet accounts will display general information about that account when you 'finger' them. The information is returned varies from account to account. Usually there is information such as the real name of the person whose account it is, the last time they logged into that account, and perhaps a 'plan' file. Many accounts do not do not accept finger requests because of security concerns. Try fingering your own e-mail address.

Some computers will also tell you who is logged in if you ommit the username from the address.

Finger is one of the simplest and one of the oldest Internet protocols. RFC 1288 describes the technical specifications of the finger protocol. Yahoo lists several other WWW finger gateways.
