The Year is 2025. MOO Canada Eh? continues to exist.
I woke up on a random Tuesday morning, and was thinking about this place and how much it meant to me growing up. I made friends here, and felt like I was part of a community when I really needed it. I figured out how to install Telnet into Windows, and lo and behold the MOO was still online.
I tried a dozen different old passwords I remembered using throughout the years, but nothing worked. Went to bed. Middle of the night, I bolted up. I knew it. It was a password I've used no where else, and it's just a random five digit meaningless string.

I tried it this morning, and it worked. I was greeted by:

30 years ago. Eons ago. Realistically, I'm past middle-aged now. I live a couple thousand kilometres away from where I grew up. I have a wife, I have a kid. I have a good life. I still think about all the people I met here. I have a lot of you on Facebook, or Instagram, or Twitter (in the year 2025 it's called X). Not one of those places existed before the MOO. Every single one of them is an inferior form of community online.

I checked how long it's been since the people I met here logged in. Most haven't logged in in over two decades. Decades. I get it -- this "was" a place, but it's not really a place anymore without the people.
But it makes me happy to be able to connect and see that it's still here.

Thanks whiz for keeping it running. If anything ever changes and you need someone to keep it going on a server, let me know. I can run it on mine.

you have never been in love until you've seen the sunlight thrown over smashed human bone.
