****HELP ON THE RULES OF 8 BALL**** --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fifteen balls are racked into a triangle on the table: seven solid colored balls (#01-07), seven striped balls (#09-15), and the 08 ball is in the middle. One of the two players is chosen to begin by 'breaking' the table. If on the break, a ball goes in, then the breaking player is now shooting at those (striped or solid) balls. If a stripe AND a solid go in, the player gets a choice. If no balls go in, the table is open and the next player gets to shoot at anything. The object of the game is to shoot all of your balls (either striped balls, or solid balls) into the six pockets on the table, and THEN shoot in the 08 ball. Any missed shot means the automatic loss of that player's turn. If a player accidentally shoots the 08 ball in before all of his balls have been sunk, that player loses automatically. If a player sinks the cue ball, then that player has scratched. The other player gets to shoot at any of his balls except those in the Near-Left, and Near-Right locations of the table. That area is called the 'kitchen'. Scratching means an automatic loss of the turn, regardless of whether the intended ball was sunk or not. If the player scratches on an attempt to sink the 08 ball, then that player loses the game. The first person to knock all of his balls in and then sink the 08 ball wins the game.
